For
today’s assignments, three journalism and three political science students
traveled to the Grand Hyatt Tampa Hotel. As journalists, it was our job to
continue gathering information relevant to our upcoming stories and pursue
future story lines. The political science students started to acquire data
relevant to individual research. Throughout the day, each member of the
political science team distributed surveys containing information relevant to
the political party.
During
my time at the Hyatt, I had the privilege to do a one-on-one interview with
Bryan Miller and Daniel Israel. As I spoke with Bryan Miller, I was able to
gain insight to his political beliefs and why he became involved in politics.
Daniel Israel was able to give a broad perspective of the education system and
how the State Board of Education works. These interviews will soon be
published as feature stores.
The
Hyatt ended the night’s events with a Republican reception. Here, delegates
from all over Georgia and the U.S. gathered to celebrate the Republican
National Convention. During the evening, I had the chance to get to know Henry
Schwab and G. Morris Carr who both talked about their occupations and their
involvement in the convention.
